Angry Birds Friends Special Roll with the Pangolins Tournament on Now

Angry Birds creator Rovio Entertainment, together with United for Wildlife, and Prince William bring you a fun, and extremely important, special Angry Birds Friends “Roll with the Pangolins” Tournament. The goal of this tournament is to help raise awareness — and spur action — to save the amazing pangolin (one of the most endangered animals on earth).

Per Wikipedia:

All eight species of pangolin are classified by the IUCN as threatened to extinction, while two are classified as critically endangered.

So no need to feel guilty while playing Angry Birds Friends at work this week, as you’ll be raising awareness for a great cause. Don’t wait! Stop working on that TPS report and start having fun freeing those pangolins. To play head on over to Facebook or download Angry Birds Friends on iOS or Android. You know the drill.

Some additional details from Rovio:

United for Wildlife stands up for endangered animals such as elephants, rhinos, and pangolins in the fight against illegal wildlife trade. Lend your voice and stop these animals from being hunted into extinction.

Help Angry Birds, The Duke of Cambridge and United for Wildlife save one of the world’s most endangered animals, the pangolin. Play the Angry Birds Friends “Roll With The Pangolins” tournament between 17-23 Nov and help raise awareness of this adorable scaly mammal!

Pangolins are awesome! They have claws, but no teeth. They can emit a foul odor, like skunks. They are the only mammal that has keratin plates. Their tongue extends deep into their abdomen and is actually anchored by their hip bones.

Sadly, they are hunted for their meat (considered a delicacy) and their scales, which some people think have medicinal properties (they don’t). Like Rhino horns, their scales are just keratin. They are no more medicinal than hair or fingernails.

Wow, I am impressed dr-omega. Very educational and it is humbling as to why man has to destroy the environment and its animals for a perceived but un-factual advantage. Outstanding post and “hats off” to Rovio.

On a purely Angry Birds level, I think this is the first time we have seen a non-bird or non-pig prominently portrayed in a game.

Nice to see how other animals look in the AB art style. I wonder if this could open up the games to more animal “guest-stars?”

Don’t recall the monkeys and fish from Rio and the wide variety of space freaks from the Star Wars and Star Wars II? Oh yeah there’s LOTS of variety in terms of targets for fowl tempers to be exerted.

Those were not designed in the AB style, though. Those were designed for the Rio movie by Blue Sky Studios. Star Wars is just mixing Birds with established Star Wars characters. I also wouldn’t count Star Wars characters as animals.

just look at here cute wittle faces! these are innocent creatures that have done nothing wrong and you know what people do?- they KILL them! I want those killers to look at the baby Pangolin on Angry Birds Friends and consider what they are doing is wrong! If I were a pangolin, I would go somewhere where hunters cant go, like the treetops or a burrow and if they found me, I would use my little claws to scratch them off. now, its not only people that kill the pangolins- its also lions, hyenas, pythons, and leopards- but the main one is humans. humans don’t kill pangolins to eat them, they poach them for their scales, just like they poach rhinos for their horn and elephants for their tusks. Together, if everybody on AngryBirdsNest where to do these levels- just 1level beaten from everybody could help donate money to help save our rolly-polly friends- the pangolin!
