In this guide we list and explain the components and benefits of all Set Items in Angry Birds Epic. Learning which sets give which benefits can help you create a lineup of birds that is nearly impossible to beat!
Sets consist of two items: a weapon and a shield. These items are obtained from the Golden Pig Machine (check out guide here), either yours or a friends. Obtaining them is rare, but you are guaranteed to receive a Set Item when your roll the Golden Pig Machine with a full Rainbow Bar. In your inventory you can easily distinguish a Set Item from other items because it will be glowing and have three rainbow filled stars above it. Tap and hold it to see the two items required to complete the set.
Some members have requested that we list out every item obtainable in Epic. Unfortunately, there are far too many regular weapons and off-hand items to list them here. But there are only a few types of passive abilities for non-set items, namely:
Weapons:
- Critical Strike: 15% chance to deal 50% bonus damage
- Chain Attack: 30% chance to attack an additional random target with 20% attack power
- Bedtime: 5% chance to stun target for 1 turn
- Hocus Pokus: Heal by 10% of dealt damage
- Dispel: 20% chance to purge blessings on target
Off-Hand Items:
- Vigor: Take 5% less damage
- Might: Increase attack power by 5%
- Vitality: Increase max HP by 15%
Note that the strength of weapons and off-hand items depend on the user’s Level at the time of obtainment. That means that the best Level 2 item will be useless compared to a poor Level 20 item. So try to hold off on finding Set Items until you are high-ranked!

@birdleader — I don’t understand your comment about holding off on obtaining set items until you have reached a high rank. How do you avoid this? What rank were you at when you obtained the items above?
Try not to spend any Lucky Coins at The Golden Pig Machine until say you’re level 25.
@mvnla2 Holding off essentially means to not spend any lucky coins on your own Golden Pig Machine spins. It’s still worth going for the daily free spins on your friends’ machines of course, but whatever set items you win will have fixed stats based on your level at that time, and the same set item you win at a higher level later on will have better stats.

@BirdLeader — What level were you at when you received these set items? What level do you need to be at to get the maximum level, and what is the maximum level?
@mvnla2 getting a piece of legendary set items depends on pure luck and you can get it really early in game, like level 16 or so. Item is guaranteed if rainbow is full. You need 100 lucky coins to fill it completely, it makes 33 free rolls, I guess.
Max level is currently 25, per the release post.
@mvnla2 The “best” level for set items is always the highest possible level, which is 25 if you’ve played after worldwide release, or 41 if before. No matter what level you obtain set items at, when future releases increase the level cap, then your previous set items will no longer be at maximum possible stats.
@amslimfordy @BirdLeader – I uploaded the missing screen shots to my album.
Regarding the ‘level’ of the legendary items, in my opinion it’s really bad form that they do not ‘level up’ as your birds do. Once you spend enough coins (or play long enough with enough friends etc), to be lucky enough to get a Legendary Item, that should be the end of it. Another rant: you can be awarded duplicate items, even while still at the same level. Once you get an item it should be out of the pool of possibilities, for the next few levels (or forever if items leveled up with you).

There is another mistake in Matilda’s nightmare. The pigs receive 200 damage not 200% as stated…
Hmm… It seems this is the case with other damage/heal stats as well, some are written in percentage instead of actual damage . I might be mistaken though…

@amslimfordy: your screenshot sais 200 and 200 is correct. What should 200% damage mean? 100% damage is already full damage and the pigs would be knocked out. So in my opinion 200% damage is not possible, but 200 damage is possible (as the screenshot sais).
By the way, there are many other discrepancies between your screenshots and your descriptions (e.g. Sugar Rush for Bomb: screenshot sais “heals birds by 100 health” and description sais “heals birds for 100% of dealt damage”).
@chriss The text we have written is correct; a few screenshots are incorrect. For example, I have Twin Lightning and I assure you that th bonus damage is 50% and not 50.
@amslimfordy: I don’t doubt that most of your texts are correct. I just wonder how stanned pigs can receive “200% damage at the beginning of their turn”. 200% of what? Maybe you can explain me, if you have time.

So, here’s a list of typos — as in, discrepancies between what’s written in-game and what actually happens.
• Dragon Breath: Should be 75% bonus damage, not 75 bonus damage.
• Twin Lightning: Should be 50% bonus damage, not 50 bonus damage.
• Nightmare: Should be 200% damage, not 200 bonus damage.
• Scissors: Should be 100% bonus damage, not 100 bonus damage.
• Sugar Rush: Should be 100% of the dealt damage, not 100 health.
• *BEEP* ATTACK!: Should be 75% bonus damage, not 75 bonus damage.
Hi, I am just testing Matilda’s Nightmare effect and found it is not available in wave 2 – wave 10. Is that a normal gameplay or a bug? Thanks.
There is a bug: I have the set item “Reborn” for Chuck. I tried it out. But if Chuck was knocked out, he never revived.
Can anybody else who has this set item confirm please?

I tried it several times but it never worked.
That’s why I’m telling you this! Damn… it’s not like that, I know what it says but it’s not like that, at least on my cellphone instead of die and revive with fu health they just heal a little amount of HP when they run out of it.

Why 529?
What he means is that if the bird takes fatal damage, he shall be healed for a little. Let’s say, using arbitrary numbers, that chuck has 30/500 health when you end your turn. A pig smacks him for 50 dmg. Chuck would normally faint and roll away, but instead, he will be revived to 20/500 health.
Note that all these numbers are arbitrary, and should not be taken for actual stats.
Maybe Chuck will revive after all the birds are knocked out with that “Save Me!”move.
I noticed this behavior but sometimes it simply does not work. My chuck got hit by two 700+ hits, he’s got 850hp, and the second one outright killed him.

I have the phoenix egg and the phoenix feather and Chuck doesnt revive after being knocked out. Does anybody know why?
My Chuck and Blues don’t revive either. Have written to Rovio about it, but have not yet received a reply.
It’s probally a bug introduced in 1.0.12 (latest bug fix update), like not being able to use ad rolls (at least on kindle)
Have same issue with chuck not reviving. Even if he is killed by only 20 attack points and only has 19 HitPoints… It’s got to be bug. Who do I contact for this?
My nightmare set isn’t working. In a battle I can tap+hold chuck and red and it shows their set item bonus, but does not show nightmare set bonus for Matilda. Anyone else have this problem?

Not sure how accurate the individual weapon buffs are. Maybe they’re semi-random? I’m on Android, FWIW.
You’ve got Chronometer listed as a Vitality buff, but my Chronometer has the Might buff. And vice-versa for my Lightning Tome. And all of Bomb’s off-hand items are different for me.
My buffs: Paper gives me Might, while Candy Chain & Golden Bullet both give me Vigor.
Scissors should be updated thinking that its now 33% chance to do 25% more damage after the update.
I’ve tried this in a different thread, but I’m not sure if there, or indeed here, is the right thread. I’ll try here anyway, seems vaguely relevant.
I just had 18 roles on the rainbow riot and got no set items. I do this every week after collecting a full set of gilden pigs and the last time I got a set item was about 3 weeks ago. So I must have had at least 40 roles since my last set item. The chances are supposed to be tripled during a rainbow riot, so I hate to see what the chances actually are outside of a rainbow riot.
The only thing I’m gaining is the rainbow bar is gradually filling up, and if I’m lucky I might get a set item once every 3-4 weeks (come to think of it, that might be why I got that last set item).
Anyway, I’m getting really frustrated with it, and might dump the game altogether. Is their a glitch, or am I just seriously unlucky?

– does pigs get the “nightmare” damage even if red or chuck stun them?
– does the nightmare effect even work?

1) The “Nightmare” damage effects any stunned pig, regardless of how or by-whom.
2) I believe it is working again, yes.
3) I believe it is 200% of Matilda’s Attack statistic.
4) Probabilities do not work by addition, but by multiplication of the complement: 1 – (.92)(.85) = 21.8% chance

Anyway, I am sorry, no I can not answer your question. I have absolutely no idea about Epic, sorry. But I am sure @birdleader or maybe @sal9 will know what is up with that 3 sets.
Actually, Red’s Protector’s Aura set is the best so all of your birds take less damage when they’re attacked and Red can score more critical hits and for Chuck is the Twin Lightning Set because it has a large chance to deal damage to all enemies and Matilda, I prefer the Sweet set so that if you’re using Red’s Paladin, Chuck’s Rainbird, any of Matilda’s Classes, Bomb’s Hokus Pokus and The Blues Spies, their healing can increase the amount by this set and for Bomb is the Sugar Rush set so you can heal all of your birds massively with his damage and lastly for The Blues is the Artillery Strike set so you can deal more damage to those Guard Captains to Surpass their Ironclad.
I really prefer grand slam(have) on samurai and nightmare(don’t have) together. For red with samurai, it has a 22.08% chance to stun for TWO turns, but for white with bard(I don’t have) it has a 22.8% chance to one turn. The stunning is good, but the damage nightmare (at the beginning of a stunned enemeys turn, it takes twice white attack value) is extremely high and the regular attacks are also extremley strong (3×50% and 160%) which makes the two strong. You also have healing that you won’t have use every three turns and shielding for any smashes.
Yellow with time jump(don’t have) and lightning bird can be used to send out even more stuns (lightning fast). Time jump can happen many times in a row (including chilli).
Or you can also use wizard for stun, chilli (energize) and high damage(100%, 66% ,45%, 30%. The average % of the attack value from all of chuck’s hats is 50.125 not including poison). I use twin lightning(have) in this case.
Speed of light (yellows chilli) could sent out yet, even more stuns.
Sugar rush(have) could be used to heal more (exploding with sugar rush will heal zero or thousands of damage, even when weakened), pickpocket(don’t have) only steals four snoutlings 30% of the time, artillery strike(have) could be used to reach damages up to 1643 for me alone (250 precent of the attack value). Scissors(don’t have) and BEEP attack(also don’t have) are unnecessary because wizard could fulfill the job better.To me, protectors aura(have, unwanted) is weak and perfect balance is even weaker(don’t have).
I have once defeated demonic wizpig without having him ever attack me but it is extreme luck and grand slam).
