Angry Birds Epic Desert Pig Castle Walkthrough

Below is our walkthrough for Angry Birds Epic Desert Pig Castle. This is an incredible 5-wave castle, meaning our video is over 8 minutes long (sorry). Our strategy is as follows. In the first wave, target the two sword-wielding pigs first. For wave two, focus on the mustached pig before dealing with the fly-swatters. Feel free to use the Rage Chili via the Blues at the beginning of the round. Focus on the lightning pig in wave three, again using the Rage Chili with the Blues. Round four is straight-forward, but in the final wave keep in mind that Prince Porky ignores all damage greater than 74.

Completing this level will retrieve the 2nd stolen Egg!

If you have a different strategy for completing this level feel free to leave a comment below. Be sure to check out the rest of our Angry Birds Epic walkthroughs here as well as join the conversation in the Epic Forum.

I see this two-stars the level just as I did first time through.

Has anyone else noticed how massively this level scales up when you go back to try to three-star it? It’s nuts! Lollipop guy heals for 799 when he heals, everything hits HARD, and the fire and lightning guy will wipe you out should they both decide to ramp up their 2-round-charge attacks simultaneously.

In other words, you need shields, hard hitters, and of course, soft hitters for the final wave. Even with liberal use of heal potions and rage pie slices, I can’t even finish the level much less three-star it. No combination of birds seems to have enough to make it all the way through.

To put it another way, other than the daily dungeons, this is the only level I have not three-starred so far (I’m about half way to the fourth egg right now…)

Any strategies for going back and three-starring this later in the game?

Thanks for listening to me vent. *smile*

@sutekh137 — I started keeping track of the character changes in some levels. Didn’t start counting health values immediately, but over 6 restarts I would guess the opponents increase in health by ~1000 pts, not to mention become more powerful in other ways. This is certainly true in Slingshot Woods and Great Cliffs, but not on every level.

I think the definition of “first time” is somewhat tricky…

I just completed King’s Pig Castle (what a fiasco — I had no low damage dealers and so played the damage reduction spell against them, but it took FOREVER (still two-starred it crazily enough). The baddies were all level 14, even when I restarted the level from within it. I was even able to exit back to the world map (but didn’t move), went back in, and things were still at 14. I thought they were even still at 14 when I went back in after completing it, though I was being far from scientific in my research.

In any case, when I went and re-jiggered my hats, weapons, etc. and then went back to King’s Castle, the baddies were all level 21 (just like me). So, that looks like yet another level I’ll never three-star *sigh*.

Is there a list of what levels scale, and what is considered “first time” before the level starts to scale?

@sutekh137 The increase in difficulty is because the first time the enemies are at a fixed default level which was likely lower than your level at the time, but after you beat the castle the first time, all enemies will match your current level and thus attack, healing etc. scale up accordingly. To 3-star you’ll eventually have to upgrade your classes (headgear) at Mighty Eagle’s Dojo and roll for set items from friends’ Golden Pig Machines in order to have strong enough stats and equipment.

@tomc — But why does the difficulty increase on each restart, even if you immediately restart, and haven’t increased your level. My stats aren’t any higher than those shown in the video, but the characters and stats still increase on each restart.
@admins— Did you get 3* on the first try on all levels?

@mvnla2 If you tap and hold over the enemies, the level number and attack, healing, other stat values should remain constant in each attempt? I’m not getting any increase in difficulty with each restart, though on some levels there may be a random pool of enemy types.

@tomc — It doesn’t happen on every level, and I wasn’t paying attention on this level. I started keeping track in slingshot woods. See my comments on several levels, like this one:

After 5 or 6 restarts, the enemies stay constant at ~1000 health higher than the first.

@TomC Yeah, I realize this level scales, so I should have worked harder to three-star it the first time. Pretty annoying though, as I had no way of knowing that. On most other levels, I simply go back when I am stronger and get the third star.

What is really demoralizing is that I just tried Pig City Level 2 for the first time. I am level 21 (spent a LOT of time farming Matilda’s Garden and whatever level nearby that serves up seeds), while on the walk-through (here) for PC2 I think the birds are level 15. The stats of the pigs are jacked up even though this was the first time I tried the level. Then, even with using lots of potions and pie slices (and doing a pretty quick job of finishing the level — faster than the walk-through), I still only got two stars.

Such levels are annoying, to say the least. Yes, the Mighty Eagle Dojo will help, as will better gear, but I’d love to see a walkthrough where this level and Pig City Level 2 are three-starred, since finishing with 100% health on all pigs and dispatching the pigs relatively quickly still does not seem to get three stars. I mean, when the villain won’t let you hit him hard enough to kill him quickly, what is one supposed to do (and yes, I had all three birds below the threshold, able to do damage every time…) for a quicker finish?

Plz, tell me if you got 3 stars like I said below.

@Roh

I’d love to try, but I’m level 25, so I’m done wasting a ton of potions hoping for that third star. Stuff that levels up with your team is hard (at least for me). I don’t even try the daily dungeons any more because they are nearly impossible. It’s much easier to go to that Western Plateau place and get 10-11 snoutlings per fight, a fight which takes just two hits to finish…

If I’d have known certain levels scale with the user and that the user (me) would max out at level 25, I’d have kept replaying Desert Castle until I got three stars.

Glad you got the three-star flag though! That is a nice accomplishment!

I made it!!! I three-starred (about 99k)! Sorry, I can’t record it. But, if anyone wants to try. Please, let me know if you got it too.
You should use the same strategy in the video. But, in the last round, don’t kill the bombs, just Prince Porky. Let them live.
I am level 8 and didn’t use hard equipment or portions, just the usual as seen in the video.
I will try again later and make a screenshot.

Just re-did it at level 11 for 3 stars. Took forever to get past wave 2, but was a breeze past that.

My birds were Royal Matilda, Cannoneer Black, and Volley Blues. Keeping the heals up on the final wave was pretty good at keeping the three stars secured for me anyways.

You can use samurai druid and lightning bird

Well… I’m farming Snoutlings with this level :-)
The Prince drops 100 of them after defeat + ~20 from other piggies; average time to finish the level (for me*) is ~5-10 min, getting 720–1440 coins per hour. I don’t know: are there any levels with income greater than this?
Thank you :-)
* Level 21. Using Red-«Samurai»-5, Matilda-«Druid»-6, the third class of The Blues-5. No potions needed.
