Lesson 8 Part 2 – Angry Birds Friends Power-ups

We’ve got a brand spankin’ new Angry Birds Friends on Facebook lesson, which focuses mostly on power-ups. This lesson is meant mostly for the newcomers who might still be a bit confused about what power-ups are all about. Put simply, power-ups are consumable items, meaning that the count will drop by one each time you use one. It’s also important to realize that you can use at most two power-ups per try on a single level, and those power-ups must be distinct. The Mighty Eagle is a bit of a different beast, but be sure to check out our Eagle-specific lessons in the Angry Birds Classroom. If you have more questions, please ask below. More advanced lessons coming soon!

We also have a handy reference that breaks down all the Angry Birds Friends power-up in detail.

The ABO Sling Scope looks much better in my opinion.

I agree.

I really hope they don’t add it to seasons. They added it to the original game and i can’t help but to use the power-ups to get three stars. It takes the fun out of the game.

Hey, you don’t have to use them! They are completely optional!

Of course that all players know that power ups are optional but they do make whole mess up with scores in GC. scores obtained with power ups are not alolowed for leaderbroads on ABN and I believe that users don’t ener them.
Until Rovio makes distinction between those scores we don’t want them. We (saying “we” means majority of people here) don’t use them but we also don’t want other people “cheat” by using them.

Dittos, @cosmo2503. I’ve tried the PUs on iOS and FB. King Sling and Super Seed IMHO had very limited success, and Sling Scope and Pig Quake were only marginally more successful. So I stick to not using them, especially since my primary play is on PC without PUs.

@brave1966 I tried them three or four times playing on my android phone since there is not any sort of Game Center for Android players I think it doesn’t mind if I use pups or not. As I described below they made significiant difference for me on two randomly choosen levels. In cas of level 13-7 difference is 36k above top score and more then 50k above my score played on iPad. I am really bad player if I may notice.

Yeah, you can disable them in your ABO app at the main menu on the title page. You’ll still see the power ups button when you play a level, it’ll just grayed out, signifying their disabled state.

not sure if this has been answered, but is the M.E. considered a “power-up”?

No it is not. Mighty Eagle adds another layer of gameplay. A game within the game with a separate scoring system. But it’s primary function is to pass difficult levels.

alright, thanks @sal9!

I don’t play Angry Birds on FB and don’t have any clue about using power ups. So far I tried them on my phone on two levels and they make great difference. couple days ago level 13-7 was daily chalenge I tried pups super seed and king sling and easily got 212k with one bird. score is 36k above regular top score. I tried birdquake on level 6-2 which I just randomly choose and obtain score 97k which is also higher then regular score.
I just hope that power ups will not find their way in other AB games especially not in Space and Star Wars as they already made “damage” in original game. What was my point? I wanted to emphasise that one weak and unexperianced player as myself can make a significient difference in scores by using power ups then great player can “rock the world”. literaly :-)

@cosmo2503, If you really want to see what power ups can do for a score, go to The Big Setup. If you Super Seed and King Sling Terrance, he will do a ton of damage. I can see all those scores going up by quite a bit using power ups. I have tried a few levels there and was just amazed at how easy they become with power ups. Good thing I am quick with the Pause/restart buttons so my scores remain “Pure”.

@sparty83 I guess I will try them on phone as I said there isn’t any kind of GC and competing between Android players so I don’t if high scores are obtained this or that way. Otherwise I enter only “pure” scores here, played on i Pad. I actually never use money to purchase pups but if I tried them on phone I am sure they would be consumed in short time and sooner or later I’d have to pay for them.

Congrats again to AMslimfordy on another aspect of ABN that makes this site for player support the best. Each time I view these Lessons, I learn something new. Thanks and do not stop. The Wish List would be for Star Wars lessons.
