Happy Birthday Angry Birds! The Angry Birds “Birdday Party” update (v2.0.0) is now available for iOS, Mac, PC, Nokia, and Android via the Android Market and Amazon AppStore. This update — which Rovio announced a few days ago — celebrates the two year anniversary of Angry Birds! And coincidentally, we also wish a very happy birthday to Bird Leader as well (who is just a wee bit older than 2)!

Notice to all users: An update numbered v2.0.2 is making its way around and includes several bug fixes. It has thus far landed for all platforms, I beleive (Mac, PC, Nokia, iOS, and both Android ports). These improvements include: Fixing the “Scores Ending in 9” bug, Golden Egg #1 missing from Mac/PC, trackpad sensitivity issues on Mac, Facebook levels being permanently locked, and more.
This update includes:
- 15 new levels, some of which are very challenging. We have video walkthroughs available if you need help.
- A secret achievement that is a bit challenging to unlock (video walkthrough).
- One more Golden Egg, which is revealed in our Complete Golden Eggs guide.
- Big change to the Golden Egg levels, to achieve the star you now have to surpass a minimum score, much like a normal level.
- The Orange/Globe Bird is now available.
- A brand new pause screen that is being dubbed the, “Rovio Channel”. Note: There seems to be no way of disabling this, which I know many will find a bit frustrating.
- New “Level Completed/Failed” screen that is quite similar to the one seen in Rio.
- One of the pause menu items shows a map of New York with the words “Coming Soon”… Interesting, at least.
Rovio has said, “It’s a cool new feature we’ll be experimenting with in the future”. - Pro Tip! Birthday Cakes are worth 3000 points!

Great news Slim, iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak will be released in a couple of days!
And, Siri can now be LEGALLY ported to the iPhone 4 because of the new software update to the iPhone 4S apple released today which featured decrypted Ramdisks.
Is that a 5.0.1 UT-JB for iPad 2? I heard that it was going to be released for “lower” iOS devices, such as iPhone 3GS/4 and iPad 1.
That is correct, sorry forgot to mention that. BUT the Pod2g hacker is initialing iPhone 4S and iPad 2 version and will probably take some time. (i think i said that right) Oh and one more thing, they may be able to get siri on the iPhone 3GS but for now i think it’s just for the 4.

Awesome news. Yeah, I don’t quite want to JB my phone right now. I’m willing to hold out a little while longer to JB my iPad. Frankly speaking, it’s not worth the effort to JB a 3GS with its poor resolution.

I just noticed on Google Chrome that there was a new update with the new Angry Bird introduction screen and different font. No new levels except for the 1 a day Seasons Greetings. Hopefully, this may signal an update for other platforms.
Actually, rovio updated Angry Birds Chrome about a couple weeks ago.

Well I just update Birday Party for Android and everything I played before is GONE…every single level is like I have never played it…suppose its got something to do with unlocking all the levels, but a bug deleted my progress…all of it, I´m honestly speechless and I am not able to restore any of it from backup…anyone else? (HTC Desire cm7)

If I install it now on my Android smartphone — would I have to play all the previous chapter in order to get Birdday Party levels? I’ve been playing ABo on my PC only, would hate to go through all the levels again…
As part of this anniversary update, all episodes should be unlocked.

I went and checked every section after installation, and I have all my stars and GE’s without any mysterious relocking, or other weird behavior. There have been enough comments of update problems, that I wanted to be sure of everything.

Why it doesn’t show the king in level 18-15?
I see a pig wearing a crown in the top-right. It’s not the King Pig, but it seems to be symbolic of him.
This is probably not the right place to ask, but I just started the new update and entered my score on the leaderboard, it is quite different than the seasons leaderboard , or mmaybe I am on the wrong place. I dont see that it shows the format like seasons d with the high score, name, then the average. It just shows my score and more much I am off average? Ty for help

Did they ever unlock all episodes? was that only for a specific time period and they have now removed it? I just updates- no I didn’t update right away… but none of the episodes were unlocked with the update.

I finally got home and downloaded this update via Amazon, and some of these are HARD!!! I’m not complaining – I’m enjoying the challenge. I just hope it satisfies all of those naysayers who feel compelled to whine about how “easy” most of the updates are!

And it really does bother me when I see people posting here who do nothing but complain. I don’t know of any company that cares more about the user experience than Rovio, and I’ve never experienced an update on any of the games that wasn’t fun. When you consider that we only paid .99 per initial app and all of the updates have been free, how much more were they expecting? (My personal pet peeve about the culture of entitlement is an entirely separate rant.)
If I purchased the mighty eagle on iPod touch on the original, will I get the mighty eagle for free on iPad 2 (not the hd version)?
If you are still using the Standard Definiton app, then it will be a free “re-purchase”

I now get a screen (on Android) all the time that shows the world (which I presume means the Internet) on the right, and a bird on the left with a cell phone, and an indication that stuff is being transmitted from the phone. What is this?

For anyone else with the T-Mobile Mighty Eagle version, I have been asking on the T-Mo help forums about an update, but so far no one there knows. I guess I should ask them on Twitter, the employees there seem to be more knowledgeable.
Last night I asked Rovio support if we are going to get an update, or if there is a way to install the regular ABo along side the ME one without over writing our ME version. I don’t think they answer on weekends, but hopefully I will have something to report on Monday.
I found a way to update to the newest version, keeping the previous levels intact.
I went to the T-Mobile Mall>My Stuff and searched for Angry Birds. If you look at the information about the game it shows the previous level (1.6.3). Don’t download the program again. HOWEVER, if you choose uninstall it takes you to what appears to be the Android Market. It should give you the choice to Update. Scroll down and confirm it says “Happy 2nd Birthday, Angry Birds” in the What’s New Section. The program updated with all levels AND Mighty Eagle. I have a G2 and that’s what worked for me.
I purchased the Amazon ad-free version. Then I got the T-Mobile Mighty Eagle. The Amazon App store told me that I had an update which installed fine. I still have the Mighty Eagle, all my progress, and no ads.

Other changes to v2.0.0 appears to be a smaller app size (18mb from 22mb previously) and changes to ‘intros & endings’ for the first and last levels
It seems the new Rovio Channel only applies to iOS. For Android it’s still the old News Feed which can be disabled

I notice something else that is new about the game. When you start the first level of the chapter, it shows that timeline, like the pigs taking the eggs down into a mine, the birds locked up, etc. But all of the timelines are redesigned. They are more brighter. Even the timeline that shows the king pig defeated is more brighter. Take a look.
