Ad Free Version of Angry Birds Now Available for Android

Rovio announced today that you can now purchase the original–ad free!–version of Angry Birds through the Amazon Appstore.

To get started you first have to install the Amazon Appstore.

  • If you’re on a computer right now, go here and follow the instructions on the page. If you happen to be on an Android device just click here to download the application right to your phone.
  • For those on computers, after you enter your phone number or email in the box you’ll receive a message that contains a link where you can download the Amazon Appstore application to your phone. It goes without saying, but you want to open this link on your device so the application downloads to your phone.
  • After you download the Appstore application install it and then enter your Amazon.com user name and password so you can begin downloading apps
  • Note, some Android have a default setting enabled that prevent you from installing apps that weren’t downloaded from the Android Marketplace. You’ll need to disable this setting in order to install the Amazon Appstore application.
  • If you already have the ad supported version of the Angry Birds installed this will overwrite it. The prompt does say, “All previous user data will be saved.”, but be aware just in case.

So, if you download the ad-free version, will you have complete all the levels all over again?

It overwrites the existing version. The prompt says, “all existing data will be saved”, but you might want to try and backup first anyhow, but that’s not always easy to do.

Thanks for the info!

It did not replace the old app. Nothing I had done before carried over.

Then you may want to check our Backup Tutorial to see if you can transfer your data.

Dumb question, but does this version work outside the United States?

@Hulbi,

Does it matter, as long as that stupid amazon app store is used it will be only available in the US.

Ad free version of Seasons available now as the free paid app of the day! Replaced my ad version of seasons without a hitch (all game data preserved).

The Amazon AppStore is limited to the US. I want to buy the add-free version, but I don’t live in the US, how can I buy the app?
Why isn’t this app available in the normal Android Appmarket?

I’m in the same boat here. Us Aussies can’t use the Amazon site. :’o( Please get it into the Android App Market.

Thanks

I think you are better off asking for Amazon to launch their site worldwide. I think that is more likely.

I don’t believe there are free HD (tablet) versions available, but I could be wrong. I’m not too familiar with Android-based platforms.
