Just a quick update to let you all know that the Angry Birds Rio Carnival Upheaval update is now available in the Amazon AppStore and now the Android Marketplace. For those outside the USA we expect the update to land in the Android Marketplace in the next few days (the sooner the better!).
FYI, a new minor update (v1.2.1) was released on June 16th that disables the moving background and foreground. This was likely in response to some users saying that it made them dizzy and/or nauseous.
Nokia users, it looks like the update is now available in the Ovi Store as well!

It won’t upgrade for me in amazon appstore. anyone have any hints? I click on rio and it doesn’t have a purchase or upgrade option, just “open” If I click open it goes to my current version, not updated. Thanks in advance.
I had the same issue. Click on New. Click the Refresh button. Then hit the Update Available tab. Rio should then be there ready to be updated.
Andieo, can you be more specific? I don’t see a “new” or “refresh” button?
In the amazon app store click the myapps button (i hit the menu key inside the store). The new tab should be highlighted and it will say no new apps to download and install. On the right side of the screen there is a refresh button. Hit that. Then across the top, hit the tab for update available. Angry brids rio should then appear with notice that there is an update available. Sorry about not be clear earlier. New to commenting

Don’t understand why I’m not getting the Rio update and my wife did??? We both have the exactly same phones. I tried refreshing it several times but its not workin. Can anyone help please?

It would be if my wife ever let me play lol but I contacted amazon and they are aware of the problem. It must be happening to a lot of people and they are working on correcting the problem.

“Carnival Upheaval” was originally slated for July, and Rovio has tweeted a few more weeks, so we’ll have to see. Level 7 was a surprise to all of us.

I have DroidX on Verizon, AB Rio via Amazon AppStore. I followed the instructions, just like posted above, but the update isn’t showing up for me either. Is this a glitch that I should just wait for Amazon to fix, or is ther something I can do?

I had the same problem amazon told me I had to uninstall the app store and Rio. Then download both them again. I lost all my scores but got the update. It really wasn’t that bad I got to play them all over again.

No, but updates will always be on Amazon Appstore a few days before Android Market. The v1.2.0 update will be on Market this week, according to Rovio’s Twitter. Be aware however: I have heard people have problems going from Amazon back to the normal, since your Amazon game is ad-free and Android’s is not.
Hey u know what I noticed? You know that rovio news stuff in the pause menu? Well a little post man pig appeared in the corner and if you tap on him it turns the rovio news off! You can turn it back on by tapping on him again. Cool huh?

Cant wait for the update to hit the Android market here in the UK…just one??? Is there anyway please please and double please we can get these updates without the annoying ads? It is sometimes you cant see what you are playing especially when you have to launch a bird or whatever long and high..it is sooooo frustrating…Thanks for your time…Ashers
Not yet. The ad-free version for Android is currently only available via the Amazon AppStore, which is US only. We think that the Bad Piggy Bank project will bring the ad-free version international once completed.
I have a Droid 2. NO problem updating. it worked for 2 days and now it force closes every time I try to run it. any suggestions?
